Letter from Mr. Wailer at the Home Office, London to the Under Secretary, Dublin Castle

I am directed by the Secretary of State to refer the letter from this Department of October 2” (3 15106/381) on the subject of the possible release on certain conditions of some of the interned Irish prisoners, and to the unofficial correspondence which has followed it.

I am to send the accompanying application for the release of Irish prisoner — Charles Hughes of Bridge Street Westport Co. Mayo who is at present interned at Frongoch, and to request that you will be so good as to report as early as you can whether the Irish Government would agree to this man’s release on the conditions mentioned in the letter of October 2”. –
